4th Sussex International Piano Competition

7th - 13th May 2018: Worthing, West Sussex

SIPC week opens with a welcome event where competitors, hosts and organisers can meet each other over relaxing drinks and snacks. The quarter finals take place over Tuesday and Wednesday with the 24 competitors each playing a thirty minute programme of their own choice but including the 5 minute competition test piece – Devil’s Reel by William Alwyn (Third movement of Movements, published by Goodmusic).

The international jury will be looking at such details as technical proficiency, musicality, presentation and choice of programme. Jury marks are compiled by an independent officer at the end of the quarter finals and six competitors are selected to go through to the semi-finals on Friday where each pianist presents a 45 minute programme of their own free choice.

The final three pianists then each play a concerto chosen from the large competition list at the Grand Final on Sunday 13th May at 2.45pm with Worthing Symphony Orchestra.
